In 2025, two-time world champion dragon boat paddler Linda Wharton formed the Maple Dragons, a Canadian team of 2SLGBTQIA+ folks and allies coming together to find community through the sport of dragon boating. This summer, the Maple Dragons competed internationally, bringing home two bronze medals from the 2026 Gay Games in Valencia, Spain. The team, built on a foundation of pride, strength, and unity, welcomes new members, across the age spectrum and from varied backgrounds, athletically and personally.
